Born in Singapore, Amy LAM was educated and has worked in Ireland and Norway teaching music for 20 years; coordinated events and travels in USA for 15 years, worked at an advertising agency and coordinated events in Singapore for 10 years. She hiked a thru’ hike on the Appalachian Trail/USA 2,175m/3,500km from May-Sep in 2005 after both her daughters Linn & May were working and independent with their own lives.
In 2008, published 1st SIN AT Thru-Hiker/First Singaporean Appalachian Trail Thru-Hiker – a collection of data, pictures, quotes & thoughts during a 127 days hike. She has been and still is sharing the experience through PowerPoint presentations with Q&A about the hike to various associations, groups and societies around the world.
If interested for her to give a presentation or to purchase the 108 pages book, please write to her. If she is in your area, she will be delighted to share. After globe-trotting around the world for 8 months in 2008 to gather branches, twigs & leafs hoping to draft her family tree – The LAM Heritage.
Thanks you Daniel Yiek for sharing this chronological graph.
2009′s visit to the ancestral village in S China, where the ancestral hall and house still stand was an eye-opener trip. The trip has created more interesting work to be researched into. Future travels to S China and Borneo/E Malaysia will be necessary before embarking on a rough draft of the heritage trail – the never-ending trail starting from 1905 when grand-uncle LAM Jie Chiew and grandfather LAM Song Kee started the family business as a mortgage company originally which resulted to banks.
With two beautiful daughters, two wonderful son-in-laws Jeff & Bjørn, six adorable grandchildren Katy, Ellie, JohnW, Sophie, James (5 blonds & blue eyes) and Olai (finally one with darker hair and eyes!), life is blessed! These are all her full-blood daughters and grand children, reasons to do more research into the family history to trace where the recessive genes originated from…
